About Navy Women's Lacrosse
Navy women's lacrosse represents the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Patriot League. The program is a perennial Patriot League power and entered the 2026 NCAA Tournament as the sixth seed after capturing back-to-back Patriot League championships. Navy carried an 18-1 record into the postseason and finished the regular season ranked No. 5 in the DI Committee's Top 10.
Cindy Timchal leads Navy women's lacrosse and in May 2026 received the inaugural ISNation Lead With Love Award. Under Timchal, Navy has reached the NCAA Tournament repeatedly and produced 2026 Tewaaraton Award finalist Chung. Timchal is the winningest coach in NCAA women's lacrosse history.
The Naval Academy sits on a 338-acre campus, known as the Yard, at the confluence of the Severn River and Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, Maryland, 33 miles east of Washington, D.C. The federal service academy enrolls roughly 4,465 midshipmen, has a 9.4 percent acceptance rate, and graduates 91.9 percent of students. The entire campus is a National Historic Landmark.
Navy repeated as Patriot League champions on May 2, 2026, defeating Army West Point 17-11 to claim a second straight conference title. The Mids hosted NCAA Tournament opening rounds the following weekend as the No. 6 seed, and attacker Chung was named a 2026 Tewaaraton Award finalist on May 5.
